Cultural Peaks can be seen from the sea. A formally impressive urban landmark implements the functional program inside of a landscape-building, characterized by glazed gothic-like peaks. Emerging from the Dun Laoghaire waterfront, it dialogues with the context and transforms the site into a large cultural park. Three longitudinal strips determine the syncopated modulation of the three steel peaks where the program stratifies on variable landings. The concrete basement absorbs the Cultural Center’s spaces in continuity with the park, while on the upper level the Library Headquarter is in contact with the public urban square. On the above levels, the Central Library and the Offices are developed in a progressive separation of volumes. Building morphology and technological solutions define an integrated system of environmental strategies, able to develop and manage ecological behavior and sustainable efficiency.
